Default Labor= $340

I had a Lexus dealer replace my timing belt yesterday. After hearing all of those horror stories about costs, I was pleased to find that they were running a special on this for $340 labor. I took the car in at 8am and was out before noon. I watched some of the work being done thru a glass door to the shop. They did a neat job, no grease or fingerprints anywhere and the car runs great. They checked the car out, said everything was okay, and didn't try to sell me anything. I was impressed.
I also of course had the use of an ES350 while my car was being serviced.

That sounds like a good deal. Did they do just the belt or did they replace other stuff too?

They replaced the coolant and the serpentine belt and that was it. This may be the first time a new car dealer's service department hasn't tried to sell me anything. They probably could have stuck me with all sorts of hoses and stuff, but didn't. I even questioned them about several items like greasing the steering wheel elec. motor gears. They said that you create problems messing with stuff that ain't broke. I liked that.
I would recommend John Harvey Lexus of Bossier City to anyone within a reasonable driving distance of Shreveport, Louisiana.

They didn't replace the water pump, cam and front main seals? All that would have been just parts since they're already in there. $340 still not that bad.

Not at just 77,000 miles. I was worried that the ten year old timing belt would be cracked, which it wasn't. Everything checked out fine.

That is a good price. For our LS400, it was $375 for the TB service which also included the WP, cam seals, tensioners, idlers and other misc replaced parts during this service. Since they were in there and accessible, he said for the stuff that was right there he'd do it.
