I believe the outside temperature display only appears on my instrument panel when my adaptive cruise control is turned off. Sorry, like you, I haven't driven the car for a few days.

I just got my LS and by playing with it, the only place I can make it dissapear is by pressing switch DISPLAY 2 in the steering wheel. I would taggle through the menu again. If that doesn't work, then I have no clue.

Since it's a nice day today, I drove the LS and confirmed that whenever the cruise control is on, whether in ACC or regular mode, the outside termperature display in the instrument panel is blacked out. When I turn the cruise control off, the temp reappears. The display 2 button has no effect. I don't know if this is the same for ML and premium cars without adaptive cruise control.

You would hold down mode 2 (rt steering wheel) to toggle temp display in an ML. I test drove a premium and I believe that the area also shows a compass.
