I have a 2011 GX460 and I'm wondering if there is a software upgrade to display the outside temperature in the instrument panel; instead of hitting the climate button every time I have to see it. It sounds like the 2012 GX460 now has the temp displayed in the instrument panel.
Actually Dawg, the outside temperature now does display on the MID of the instrument panel. My new 2012 arrived today and I checked it out for you as I was looking it over. I think Lexus got rid of the lighted running boards this year, however, as I could not see any lights on them.

The outside temp displayed (on the 2012) on the dash is what the OP is talking about. The lights are behind the running boards and project down on the ground and through the two slots in the running boards. If you replace the OEM bulbs with bright LEDs the running board lights become an excellent entry lighting system that lights the ground area all around the vehicle and the running boards that illuminate when you approach the vehicle. If they remove the lights I would be pissed!
