Couple problems I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced
first off, happy thanksgiving to everyone.
well, as i stated prior, my wife is really enjoying her car. but a couple things that i have noticed that i have some issues with.
-the cd changer isnt working correctly. now i have yet to try it with actual store bought cd's. but i have burned 2 cd's off my i tunes library & they play the first several tracks fine, but after track 5 or 6, it starts to skip & then stops. i know the cd's work fine in other cd players. i bought a cleaning kit thinking maybe that might be a cheap fix, but it didnt make a difference.
-ends up the used dealer we got the car from only gave us a valet key. we jut got some keys & the dealer programmed them. but now when hitting the buttons on the key fob, it doesnt lock or unlock the doors. appears that 2 of the 3 keys dont work, but one does. we noticed that prior to the dealer cutting & programming the keys, the one key we had sometimes wouldnt work with the lock or unlock. there are no problems using any of the keys to start the car, just locking & unlocking on 2 of them.
as for the cd player, mine has been playing CD-R's just fine (not mp3's however since its not an MP3 player, make sure you select audio cd when burning) for over 3 years. try it out with a normal cd.
as for the keys i don't really have any experience with these but i would say make sure the batteries are good first.
Get a store bought CD and try that - it may not play some home made CD's depending on format - after all it is a very old design CD player. If you don't want to buy a CD just for a test, you can always get one at your local library.
If you have any warranty period at go back to the dealer and ask them to resolve the problems you are having with the keys you were given with the car.

we have some regular cd's we are going to test today. im just confused about why it plays the first several tracks fine, but then stops working later. hopefully it's just the cd's
as for the keys, there is no warranty through the dealer as for the car. but im going to call them tomorrow and as them about the other keys. the valet key was working for the most part prior to them adding the keys. but now it is not working at all.
i have ls430 2001 year. i faced the same problem with the cds then read several forum online. conclusion is the CD player design is really old and doesnt like burned CDs, it plays orginals CDs well. and peace of advise, try not to load more than 1 CD into the player because it may get jammed and u start to get CD errors...
this is what her key looks like. the dealer told me $225 per key. i got a pair off a seller on ebay for just about $100. they charged me $230 for the relearn, $69 to program the key & $25 to cut them. the good thing is one of them is now a "smart" key, so it just needs to be in either her purse or my pocket & we can unlock the driver's door & start it without the key. i think i may have to buy a new key from them to make my key a "smart" key.
i think i know what key you have b/c they all break where the key goes into the plastic. that was happening with my wife's old car's keys also. i ended up getting new plastic & key from a seller on ebay. i transferred the internals & just had the dealer cut them. ended up being a lot cheaper for me that way.

I saw on ebay they have all sorts of options......they have the switchblade key like my 08 pontiac g8 gt I had......pretty solid build....
So it does not matter the housing of the key as long as the guts and key shaft fit?
And looking on ebay I see the same fob you posted.....but alas, not for my 2003 just 04+
yes, as long as the key & internals fit that switchblade key will work. but be aware of some things. the dealer (to cover their @$$) will tell you that they will not warranty anything that is not bought from them (this dealer told me that for the extra keys i bought with her old ES330 & the LS430......i bought those switchblade keys for her ES since it seems like that typical cracking would not happen). that being said they said that the switch blade key did not fit correctly into their tool (due to the shape), but they tried their best. after they cut them, they both fit into the ignition, but would not start the car. comparing the original & the switchblades side by side, you could see they were a little different with the cuts. i had them try to recut again. one ended up working, the other didn't. so all in all, it was kind of a waste of money. i would just buy the OEM key blank if you are having the dealer cut the keys (unless you can get them to guarantee everything).

any tips/pointers?
I've found that burning the CD at the Slowest possible speed helps a lot...Try that.
