Default Key fob crap out!

So I drive my 08 f to the store. I get out the car and my key doesn't lock the car. I think nothing of it so I lock the car manually....big mistake. I go to the store and come back and the key still doesn't work. Car locked cant get in.

I then try to manually unlock the car with the key stick. That **** didn't even fit in the key hole. So I walk home to get my other key. I get a ride back to the car and the other key doesn't work either. I can't do it manually with the key stick either.

I end up calling aaa to unlock the door. Aaa arrives and unlocks the door. The alarm goes off and my keys still aren't working. Locksmith tells me to hold the key next to the start button. Magically it works and I can drive home. I wake up the next day and both keys are working minus the key stick.

It also happen to my wife in my 2011 es. Luckily she didn't lock the door. She also had to put the key next to the start button to get it to work.

I went to the dealer today to let them figure it out why my auto and manual keys didn't work. Meanwhile I have a fresh white on white 2013 gs as a loaner.

Anyone else ever ran into this situation. Thanks

Sounds like a dead/dying battery because you were able to turn on the car with the remote as close as possible to the ignition
