One of my rear fold down mirrors is suede and lighter in color. Look like it's from an ultra. Ya think they goofed at the factory? I see no history of problems with it!
I assume you are not the original owner of the car. I suspect somewhere in the history of the car, someone broke that fold down mirror and ordered the wrong replacement part.
Didn't notice it to be honest. Looks like a factory mistake. Spoke to the prior owner and he didn't know anything about it. It's just a lighter shade and suede.

I highly doubt they goofed at the factory, this is Toyota's most expansive car during Toyota's golden era with very tight quality control, assembled by very highly trained Japanese workers who take their job very seriously. The chance of this happening at the factory is close to zero.
It is exactly like caddyowner said, someone broke that mirror and replaced it with the wrong part.
It may very well have been the selling dealer that swapped the mirror before delivery. When I took delivery of my SRX, I pointed out pen marks on the side of the headrest, like someone pushed a pen through a checklist or something. They couldn't get the mark off and eventually took a headrest off another SRX.

That is entirely possible, brand new cars get damaged and repaired before they are sold as brand new everyday. The journey from the factory to the dealer's lot is so long, hundreds of people have access to it.
We bought a 1997 Honda Accord brand new from a Honda dealer, a few years later found out the roof have been repainted after it left the factory.
That's why we only buy cars used now, since even most brand new cars are not perfect and they are far from perfect after you drove it home. Might as well buy a used one for a third of the price.
