Question Different colors outside mirrors ?

Hi,

I noticed that my left mirror doesn't have the same green tint as my right (and rear-view) mirror. Is this supposed to be that way? Even when the mirrors dim at night, the passenger mirror gets really dark, whereas the drivers mirror doesn't change colors. It does take off the glare though.

So is this supposed to be that way, or is my mirror on its way out?

Thank You

look under the mirrors. See if they both have the same letters. I think they're either "A" or "B" style. If you have different codes, one is probably from different car (was replaced). They should be the same color.

That's an excellent thought!
I did check though and both mirrors say type "A".

the A and B dictate what years they will fit. A is 01-03 and B is 04-06. They wll not interchange.

Default Delamination of photochromatic coating?

My drivers mirror coating was delaminating and effect was what you describe... they are to replace it under CPO. If your mirror does not dim while headlights are on (test with a flashlight pointing at your rearview mirror where the sensor is to see if it dims) this may be your issue.

I believe you. But I have a 2004 and I double checked both sides and it says "A" on it

The strange thing is that the mirror does dim, just not at the color green. Is there some sort of green tint that could have come off? Because even during daylight my passenger mirror (and also rearview mirror) look green, whereas my driver mirror doesn't.

I'm assuming that even if the dimming was broken, all mirrors should have the same color during daylight, correct?

Once these dimming things break (from past experience) they kinda just stay dark.

Thats weird, my passenger mirror seems to not dim? Opposite of staying dark.

I noticed a mirror replacement in my lexus history report, it says remote controlled too?

Glad I'm not the only one....seems like we have the same problem, except that my mirror has never been replaced.
