My 2006 LS 430 has started to produce a squeaking noise which sounds like one of the drive belts. Is this a common problem and from others experience is it likely to simply be a worn belt or are there known problems with pulleys or tensioners. My car is a CPO but the fine print states that belts are not covered.
It's definitely not normal (don't know if it's common). As cars age their belts will too. I would say talk to the dealer and see if you can't get it covered as sort of a good faith thing. If not, it shouldn't cost too much to replace anyway. I would do it for peace of mind.
The belt part # is 90916-02586, $38.41USD @ Conicelli Toyota Parts + $19.25 shipping to Canada, total $58USD. Easily changeable yourself using a 14mm socket and 10 minutes of your time.
The new belt didn't help my problem, so it must be something to do with the AC as indicated in that thread. The sound is only audible from inside the car, only when the AC is turned on, and only if it's fairly quiet inside the car. In Auto temperature mode, this means the AC is always on.
I had thought that the AC put additional strain serpentine belt system and therefore would cause that noise, but that thought was incorrect in my situation.

If the belt is structurally sound (no cracks or visible wear) and the stretch gage doesn't show the belt is past the stretch limit, replacing the belt seems like overkill. the belt on my 430 started squeaking about a week after I changed it, especially when the car was cold. While the care was running I sprayed a couple shots of PERMATEX® Belt Dressing on the belt. The Squeak was silenced instantly. Three months have passed, and 4k miles of driving since I've applied the dressing and there is still no squeak.
My first post here so please bear with me. I had a squeaking serpentine belt as well. It's easily troubleshooted by opening a hood and spraying a little bit of water from the spray bottle on a running belt. If a noise goes away immediately then it's the belt. I believe there was TSB on Toyota belt we have on LS430. Anyway, I went to my dealer and he replaced the belt with the newer Toyota belt free of charge (I had a warranty back there). It was noise free for a while but then it came back after few months. I gave up on Toyota belts and purchased a Gatorback belt at the local Autozone store and installed it myself. The noise is completely gone since then. I should still have a Gatorback model number I believe. I can look for it if someone needs it. Hope this helps
