Sad to hear the Schaeffler part doesn't have KOYO sensors. Schaeffler/*** have a reasonable reputation, and I know a few teams that use them on 24 Hours of Lemons cars with no abnormal failures.

When I was looking at the hub, I did spray the back with PB Blaster and will hit it a few more times before trying. If I run into issues, hopefully the stacked bolt trick will work to force it off. I don't drive my LS much in winter and almost never when there's salt on the roads. While mine was titled in Indiana, the GPS addresses and underbody condition lead me to believe it likely wintered in Southern states more than the salt belt thankfully.
I've never heard of anyone replacing just the bearing in a LS430 hub. As far as I know, replacing the entire hub is the only option.
A 400 employs a bearing pressed into the steering knuckle instead of the hub itself but the 430 is a different design.

My car was sold new, and spent 80% of its life in Arizona, and garaged it's entire life.
The hub wasn't impossible to remove, but it def didn't walk right out.

If you must use the nut/bolt trick, buy grade 8 fasteners to avoid stripping threads.
I measured and decided to use a 3" bolt, but didn't take into account only 1.25" of the bolt is threaded.
If using grade 8, a 3.5" or 4" bolt likely would have worked better.

Appreciate the grade 8 tip!

I did some digging on the Schaeffler bearing, and they list it as CoO USA, which is interesting. https://vehiclelifetimesolutions.sch...A-14999-102452

Interesting.
I didn't notice any markings on the hub itself, but I'll admit, once I saw the speed sensor didn't read "KOYO" I didn't really care.
Please take a closer look at yours when it arrives and report back.

Got my Schaeffler hub yesterday just before I left for an overseas trip.

The box looks like yours and, unlike the online description, is CoO China. There is no brand on the ABS sensor.

I work for a foundry and machining company; the casting and machining work looks good.

The removal and install went well. Time will tell if I regret the Schaeffler/*** bearing.

Removal of the OE 21 year old hub was easier than expected. In the morning, I jacked the car up, removed the caliper and hub bolts, and liberally applied penetrating oil and went about my day. I rented a 5lb slide hammer from the parts store and made sure Menards had suitable Grade 8 bolts and nuts in stock if the slide hammer failed.

Later that afternoon, I applied more penetrating oil and gave the old hub some vertical taps around rotating hub and used a punch on the backside edge of the hub assembly to see if it moved. No luck, so I attached the slide hammer. To my surprise, only three modest pulls on the slide hammer freed it after 21 years.

The hub/knuckle mating surface was pretty manky. I cleaned it with a brass brush and used a piece of fine grit sandpaper to smooth over a sub 1mm fingernail height small nick I must have caused from the punch. I put a very thin coat of anti-seize on the interior of the knuckle/hub mating surface, reinstalled dust shield and torqued everything back to spec (I did reuse caliper bolts despite the service manual instructions, but applied blue locktite; front brake pads probably have 30% life left and I'll replace all 4 bolts with new pads).

I forgot how quiet this thing is without the slight drone from a slightly bad bearing. I can now hear my own thoughts again and don't like it - the intrusive thoughts say swap a UZ into our crappy caged Mustang race car.

Should the Shaeffler fail unexpectedly, I'll update here.

Default 2004 LS430 UL with 226,000 left front hub whine

Can't last forever. I've picked up a slight hum in the front. Mechanic definitely says its a wheel hub.
So wanting to stick with geuine Lexus parts, does Seawell still offer any discount and best pricing?
If not, Ebay did from Japan the actual hub from Lexus for $228 as of 2026.
One mechanic wanted $660 to install non Lexus part (arnie something) and another wanted $541 same part.

Seawell sent me with forum discount - $500.55 delivered. Yikes

I think I'll tackle it myself.
However the ebay item described it as that part number fits either left or right?
And should I get two NEW caliper bolts and use anti seize? And should I replace both? Both mechanic thought NO.

New caliper bolts- YES
Anti Seize- NO, on the caliper bolts, but a little AS on the hub mating surface is not a bad idea.
