Default More cool stuff found

Everyone keeps finding cool things on the LS (secret compartments under seat, turning on radio with steering wheel control, etc).

I've never seen a fresh air cooling vent for the brakes on a mass production car.
Way cool. (pun intended)

Having discovered that. I have a question. Does it really make a difference?
1. The rim practically covers the rotor.
2. The rotor is more near the outside face of the rim.
3. The 5 spoke rim is already open enough for air dissipation.
So unless I brake while I'm turning, there's no ram air effect.
Every little thing helps theory?

AHHHH DUH !!!!!! I should have spent more time thinking about it. High pressure is created by both sides of the rim (one from the open 5 spoke and one from the ram air). Low pressure is created inside the rim.

Think of it this way. You're driving 60mph on the highway. You have the driver side window open (5 spoke side). Even if you open the back driver side, you don't get much more wind.
Now if you open the passenger side window (ram air vent), think of all the wind you're getting in the cabin.

Ahhh DUHH... I'm so stupid

I discovered that brake air intake just 3 weeks ago. Had the car for 1.5 years. Nice little feature and probably works well too.

I'm sure it just keeps the air flowing through the wheel well so the heat doesnt get trapped inside. Either way, it cant hurt to have right? =)

More proof to show how nicely engineered these things are.

Since this is a thread about other cool features, does anyone know other functions of the key fob? So far I have discovered that:
1) Holding unlock for several seconds rolls down windows + sunroof.
2) Taking the actual metal key, putting it in the door, and holding it in the lock position will roll windows up/close sunroof.

I ask this b/c the guy I knew in high school could roll his windows down and turn on his radio from the key fob. His was a UL, but I don't think there is a diff in key fob function.

Mine (smart access) while holding unlock opens all the windows but not sunroof and on lock closes all...

So this isn't working on my 04 LS430 UL. I can press unlock three times and hold on the last press for ever and nothing happens, I tried just pressing it once and again for ever and nothing happens.

Whats wrong? Its over 90 degrees here in wonderful Puyallup.

Do you happen to be using the valet key or a regular key? I've never tried this feature with the valet key but I wouldn't be surprised if it was disabled on it.
