No matter where, you will always find idiots in the crowd.
Mercedes deserve some credit for been the first at few things. Ok.
Then there is nothing wrong with taking an existing concept and bring it to the next level. It's called evolution. Japan knows how to build good cars. Their sense of quality is different than the Germans.
I prefer Lexus on every aspect except for the driving experience. That’s why I ended up here and not on an AMG forum ;-)

Allow me to re-post a what a fellow member posted that summed this topic up.
Long as you are happy with your choice that is all that matters, and I always say if you don't have haters you are not doing something right!
We shouldn't give this energy guys. WHY? People like/love what they do and dont like/love what they dont!!!! Negative reviews are ALL a matter of opinion, thats it, opinion. Regardless of us disagreeing people are entitled to there own opinion just like we are entitled to ours. Our opinion just so happens to be we like/love Lexus. No need to allow anyone who disagrees to cause us to be upset. As for me, I like Lexus because its reliable. Very few problems if services are done and regular wear and tear items are replaced! So let them who feel Jaguar,BMW,Mercedes,Audi etc. are better feel as they do.
I owned a couple Mercedes and they aren't reliable. They have several issues and thats documented. Cars at the end of the day perform a service. They drive us wear we need/want to go and the best cars arent about looks and price. The best cars are about being reliable! Take away name brands and all that stuff and give the cars to people who dont know name brands at all. See which cars they would rather own. Having myself and friends who have owned and own from Lexus to Maybach I can say that Lexus by far is the most reliable. If you want bang for your buck(nowadays this is vital via the economy) Lexus is for you but, if you want sports driven performance get the European makes. Its all about needs and wants and Lexus owners want/need reliability and bang for our buck and I'm proud of that. LET THEM HATE!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!! L.G.N.M

I understand that Mercedes deserves a lot of credit for a whole host of things. I also believe that if it wasn't for M-B's vehicles in the 80's, we wouldn't have the Lexus that we have today.Although when we(CL) criticize M-B for issue its somewhat mild but when i hear others(MB) critcize lexus we get words like ripoff, fake, copycat, POS, overpriced toyotas. Its like Lexus did something too these guys. I don't mind disagreements and/or just not liking a product but jeez come on. Is it that much hate?

Took away their crown and scared Mercedes and BMW way back when they brought out the LS400.
Ever since then, they've been trying to reclaim their "righful place".
They are a bit like deposed royalty - generally pissed off, but not sure what to do next, so they yell about those damn peasants not understanding true quality.
Who cares.

Different strokes for different folks. MBs are very cool, very high tech cars and lots of fun and prestige as long as you have the cash to pay for potentially lots of high $ repairs. That's not a dis, that's just the cold hard truth. LS430s are also very cool cars, but they are definitely not perfect, just a different set of compromises, not better, not worse, just different - again that's why they make vanilla and chocolate..

Jabberwock made perfect sense along with the other members as well. Mercedes is for people who have to have that car based on taste. Like the example of Vanilla and Chocolate by Jabberwock. Some think Vanilla is better(me) and others Chocolate. Am I right, no and yes for liking Vanilla. Im wrong because others like chocolate and its there decision and Im right because what i decide is my decision.
The problem I have with not just Mercedes Benz but, the other European makes is, there very biased against Lexus as well as other Japanese makes. Trying to down the Lexus calling it a Toyota on steroids etc,etc.! Bottom line is, the Lexus just make us gals/guys feel great about ownership. I owned a S Class before 2002 S430 and it was top to bottom elegant I must admit. Flawless interior styling as well as exterior styling. The big problem was it had major defects. Then I got the 2002 ML500, same problems. I left Lexus to see what Benz was about because Lexus had ticked me off via not giving me any money of the 2001 LS430 I wanted(ended up getting it from another dealer in Maryland in 2003 anyway)to buy. Lexus is for owners who want peace of mind knowing the car wont have many issues. Benz and the European makes are for those who like performance cars. I respect what they love now,if only they can respect what I and you gals/guys love!! L.G.N.M
