Default Disabling Folding Mirrors?

I used the search function, but to no avail.

When I start my LS430, the passenger mirror flips out and away, even if
the folding switch is in the off position.
My battery is fine, and the mirrors are well lubricated.

I certainly neither need nor want this feature.
Is there a fuse or wire I could remove to disable this feature?

Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem. The mirror assembly will have to be replaced. There is a loaded spring that is out of wack, seems to be a common problem.

Put the switch in the middle.. it'll stay open all the time and then if you decide to fold them use the fold button.

The middle is "Auto" and will fold out everytime, put the switch to the left and the mirrors will never fold in.

Well, I just came back from my car, and here's what its doing.

Everytime you turn the ignition key, the rh mirror slightly jerks to the outside.
After 3 or 4 ignition starts, the mirror sweeps completely open.
The mirror has basically lost its detent position for the typical location.
The driver's mirror is perfect, and sits firmly in place.
The rh mirror can easily be slid fully closed or fully open ... no firm "locked" open
position.
So, every 3rd or 4th time I start the car, I have to walk around to the passenger's
side and manually swing the mirror back into position ... what a pain.
The manual doesn't show a separate fuse for the folding mirrors.

I'm hoping someone has found a way to defeat the actual electric motor.
My switch is all the way to the left, and turned off.
It makes no difference.

Do you leave your keys in the car overnight or within 15 feet of the vehicle?

No, the keys are in the house with me.
Nor do I leave anything plugged into the accessory power outlet.

I did have my ipod plugged into the centre armrest outlet for the past few weeks.
I removed it on Saturday, but the issue seems unrelated.

Thanks to all who are considering my problem ... I really don't feel like handing a dealer
$500 for a feature that I never use .... crazy gluing the possessed mirror is starting
to look awfully attractive

I had the same problem with my right mirror. It was defective, I was still under warranty, and my dealer replaced both mirrors. I assumed that the mirror folding forward is a defective mode that can't be "fixed" by overriding the folding feature.

Hey I have been there before. I leave mine folded out until I need to fold them in, I like seeing the LED puddle lights come on.

OP sounds like it is time to have your mirrors replaced, the RH is buggie and that may be the only fix for you. I had mine replaced back in Feb https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...rors-cost.html under CPO and based on the price glad I did early.

Yikes, $1500 for two mirrors?
I think I'll just walk around and fold the mirror back into place each day.
