I was trying to update my nav DVD it didn't work so I put the original back in, now I'm getting an error on the screen that says incorrect disc

Any help would be appreciated

Did you turn the car off and insert the old disc back, or inserted it while it was on. I'm not sure if that will make a difference, but I recently went to install what I was told as a "6.1" gen 4. but it ended up being a gen 5. disc. Also, make sure the door lock is flipped back to lock.

Default Power off

Correct, there is no power once the key if off ACC. What I meant was if you cycled through and turned the unit off, then back on and inserted the "old disc" back in and turned the unit on and locked it. Or, did you just see the error and then put the old one back in at the same cycle. I hope others can chime in, but I had the wrong disc and when I cycled through, it worked again with the old disc, no problems.

Default Check

Check to make sure that the DVD 'reading' side is clean and scratch free.

It should be since, this is the first time you are taking it out but just in case it got some fingerprints/smude etc on it.

Try shutdown power and put 'new' DVD in. Start up again and see what happens.

I tried everything, I don't think there's some kind of special procedure to replace the DVD is there

I think I'm going to have to take it to the DEALER

Before going... let me see if I can recall correctly the sequence that I did recently with my DVD. I popped the unit up. Set the key to ACC and powers up. I slide the lock to open, and then press the open button. The DVD opens and I get the "DVD OPEN" message or something. I put in the new DVD, closed it, and slide the lock back. The system read it, but I got error message saying wrong DVD. So I opened the lock again, pressed open, then changed the DVD. I put into lock. Shut the whole system down. Then I put the car back into ACC. The system booted and it was back to normal.

If this is what you did also, and it's not working, then you just might have to take a run to the dealership. bummer....

I currently dont have a link, but theres a way to reset the system, but involves taking out the unit, taking the cover off and removing a fuse inside. Im sure you will be able to find information about updates gone wrong.

Default Does the update update

...just the maps or is there actually a 'firmware' or system update?

I have 4.x and the voice recognition really sucks...hoping that a software update will help

I think this might work because one time I was pumping gas and forgot to close the gas cap till it clicks and the check engine light came on. I disconnected the negative wire for 15 minutes and then turned the car on and the check engine light went away.

Depends on the problem. Sometimes it works, sometimes you need to take it apart and pull the fuse.
