I too used this to fix a long standing problem on my 2005 LS430. Funny thing is my silver screws were all in and only one seemed a little loose. Tightened it up and back to perfect. If it gets loose again a dab of hot glue should permanently secure it without the risk of ruining the threads. After doing this once I wonder if it is possible to not remove the box but just the lid? It may not be but just a thought?

I used these to keep the screws from loosening again. Working very well.
Ill add to this, pictures of the attached rear vent on the armrest and how to remove gently, worked it from the bottom and then angle it out..............
This steel clip dropped out of from somewhere in my center console while doing this fix. Anyone recognize it? I think it is used by the top tray but not sure. Thanks!

That's P/N 74124-22050, it goes with P/N 58871-50030 which are usually disintegrated and not holding the metal spring in place. Together, they're part of the cushion assembly for the interior tray of the center console to slide inside the rails and for the rails to slide inside the center console. Here's a diagram:
That's incredibly helpful, thank you!
I did come across another piece that look disintegrated. I will take another look. The tray now moves a little rough and very un-Lexus! Would be nice to fix it.
Glad to be of assistance! I had the same reaction when I found some disintegrated bits in either my or my mom's LS in October 2023. Went through both console boxes and all of the plastic cushions were either cracked or missing.
This is the 2nd time I had to do it.
I was having trouble opening the lid for a few week and decided to fix it (again)
One of the screw was loosen.
This time I noticed there are 2 electrical plugs and wonder if anyone know what it is for. If you zoom in on the top one, looks like some antenna cable. The other has nothing on it.
