Bottomline is, the consumer is at the mercy at the dealership. IF, I repeat, IF you can meet a mechanic NICE ENOUGH to help you for fair prices while they make a small profit is the only way to have a remedy to being over charged. Most of us have no idea if recommended services are TRULY needed while a mechanic knows exactly whats NEEDED to be done as opposed to just being recommended. How much $ needs to be spent on car repairs or just regular up keep of your cars? We have no clue. A MAN/WOMAN being charged $95 to replace a filter of ANY TYPE should be illegal but, with the word business truly meaning,"I can overcharge people without losing sleep for profit because its business" has people not even thinking of ethics anymore. HOW anyone cant consider anothers finances is clear, usng business as an out! WHose the worse criminal? The drug dealer or stick up kid or the person charging $95 hour for labor? You decide as individuals, I cant decide for anyone but myself. I go to the dealer expecting the worse. Went in myself last week for brakes to be done, coulda cost me $260-$270 for rear brakes but I wasnt told the sensor had been ruined, didnt know it could be or even had I been aware it existed. S, I was charged $99 for sensor and money to machine rotors as well, costing $491, this after $100 discount, hahaha! Should break replacement EVER cost that much? Again, its your decision to make for you. The only remedy in this world is to become a Dr.,LAwyer, Mechanic,Car Salesman,OBGYN,Barber, Hairdresser,Owner of your own college,Owner of a clothing store and cloth designer and shoe store owner and shoe designer. Really, being over charged is how the economy works, not fairness! Protect yourself with DIY(Doing.It.YOURSELF) or knowledge to know what items/services cost! LGNM
