Anyone know how to remove the headlights? Do I have to remove the front bumper to do this?

Thanks,
Jim

i am pretty sure there are bolts below the headlights that you have to take off. on the gs you can flex out the bumper to do it, but imho just take off the bumper, it's worth the hassle

I have a 2002 Ls430 and was able to change the headlight without removing the bumber.
If I rember correctly their are only two bolts that hold it in place. I put some duct tape on the bumper in front of the light ( to prevent scratching ) and was able to work it out . It is a tight fit but it is possible. Mike

There also seems to be some type of fitting on the outer side of the lights, does that just "pop" in?

Yes, Their is a pin like stud that supports the side of the light to a gromett fender on the fender.

Can you not reach in behind it and untwist the socket?

Sorry this is old, but Im replacing my headlights and parking lights... This car is even harder to work on than the damn LS400

I just recently got my '03 LS back from the shop and the passenger light is secure, but the Drivers side headlight is loose at the bottom. Both bolts up front are secure but it still seems to move. Could the shop have broken a tab in the back or something?

i know this is old, but i have been searching on any tips when removing the headlights. our LS has very bad condensation on the driver's headlight & the light stopped working. i replaced the bulb with a new one & still nothing. found a whole headlight on ebay that is in very good shape & came with a bulb & ballast, so i'm going to swap that in.

looking at the tabs that are on the assembly that is going to be installed, it looks like there are the 2 bolts on the top, but then one bolt on the bottom facing the side. to the person about that says the headlight is loose towards the bottom, i would guess that they broke that tab. but being a 2 year old post, i'm sure that can't be warrantied.

but the reason i'm bringing this back is to ask if anyone knows of an easy way to access that bolt without breaking the tab or having to remove the bumper? trying to remove the bumper just makes me a little nervous.
