Default Is something missing?

On my 2001 LS, In the trunk, on the far left side there is a vertical opening that would be a perfect storage location for something. It is empty. Is there something missing? A tool kit, medical emergency kit? Anything?

On a CPO, I think that the car should be complete and that the tool box should have been there. Anyone know that for certain?

I'd tend to agree but since its been about four months since you had your car it may be difficult to prove that it didn't come with it. I'd look up your salesman and ask him very nicely about it (in his/her interest of building an ongoing trusted relationship) to make your car complete.

Default 1st to go...

When I bought mine last year, non-CPO it was also missing the tool kit. I looked around to purchase and it would cost over $300 from Lexus. I looking into a wrecking yard and found some for $200. I decided to throw a tire iron in the trunk and buy some golf clubs instead.

My CPO LS430 had the tool kit but it was missing the flashlight and the screwdriver. Everything else was there and looked unused. I reported the missing pieces to my salesman and within 24 hours he had a screwdriver and a flashlight (in a plastic bag, no less) for me.

I'd give it a shot; what can you lose? Be sure to check under the carpet for the jack, etc. while you're at it...just in case there are some other missing parts.

I just called my salesman and he agreed that it was missing. He said that I should stop by and he'll get one for me. He said, "probably out of another car". This is where it is a pain to buy from a distant dealership. But this is the price of a great deal.

My compliments to Lexus of Orland in Tinley Park, IL. The dealership is over an hour away so I was unable to get there this week. A friend who was working in the area of the dealership said that he would stop by and get it for me. I was concerned that they would make him wait. The dealership was professional and had it waiting when my friend arrived. I haven't seen it yet, but he says that it looked complete and brand new. This was a situation where the dealership could have taken several routes, but chose to take the high road. Thank you Lexus of Orland!

Sounds like one of the better dealerships. Lexus service, although pretty good in general, still has its share of bad dealerships. This one sounds like a good one to build a relationship with.

The tool box was just dropped off to me. Brand new. While it is very nice that it fits into the slot and "locks" into place, if anyone other than Lexus sold this for $300, they would be held out as a bad example of overpricing. There are 2 open end wrenches, screwdriver, pliers, a penlight and a lug wrench. I'm glad that the dealership did the right thing, but I would not pay for this.

I still love this car!

This is what you expect from Lexus but not all dealerships are cut from the same cloth. Glad to see yours is since they've kept a new owner a happy Lexus owner.

Hi Russ, There's a small tool kit in a black plastic container in that slot.
