Default LED Headlight Conversion?

Any recommendations? My HID bulbs are going out and wondering if anyone converted their HID to LED bulbs. Thanks in advance.

That's like taking 2 steps backwards. LS430 projectors are excellent, just get a HID bulb and be done. I went with Diode Dynamics HID 6000k for headlights and LED 6000k for fogs. Bright white, love the output.
I also did VLED DRL 6000k, no flickering. I have to take some pictures at night. They look much better.

70Chevelle,
LEDs can swap for fog lamps with no changes? Do fogs lamps have a standard connection type or bulb size that LEDs will all fit?

What about high beams? Mine are yellowing so go me thinking. I believe on LS430 they are halogen, so no HID replacement. But the high beams used to be super bright, so I would restore with same... can't convert easily to HID, but what about using LED for high beams only? I may simply try to replace with OE bulbs, as they were great, but curious if LEDs are a viable and good drop-in replacement.

Swapped fogs with LED with no other changes, plug and play. Bulb size is 9006.

High beams are little more tricky when converting to LED as the same bulb is also DRL. When supplied with full 12V it's High Beam, half voltage it's DRL, so you can't just swap with HID or any LED.
VLEDS has a solution, it's pricey, but it looks great, like a modern car. No flickering when DRL and extremely bright when High Beam. Little more involved as you need to run wire to the battery, but not hard to do.

Thanks. I might consider the LED fog lights, as I use them for added breadth of lights. Probably I'll stick with OE (non-LED at least) on the others, as I recall they used to be fantastic. My high beams have clearly yellowed, but not sure as much on the HID/low beams. In all seriousness, my eyes might not be as good as they were. Are the Diode Dynamics HID 6000k whiter or brighter than OE? Again, I've had my car 16 years and remember they were so amazing. The headlights were my favorite feature, with the beam dispersion (lighting up the side of the road better than any other car), the swivelling/AFS, etc. I don't need them that good as mostly drive locally at night, but I am thinking of indulging with all new bulbs as a 20th birthday present to my car where the gift is to me! It will restore a bit of the luster that has been lost.

I don't know the answer on the high beam but I have been running this low beam LED D2S direct replacement for over a year now. They are brighter than my Philips HID that comes with the car. Good things about this is no modification at all. It's a drop in bulb. Not even the tail has stick out. It's the exact dimension of the HID D2S bulb. And it is relatively cheap.

@pur, is there a name/model number? In English? Or am I missing something? Also you said D2S, but I thought the standard bulb is a D2R.

I believe my 2004 is running D2S bulbs while the pre facelift may be on D2R. Not totally sure.

适用天籁 雅阁 傲虎 森林人 12代皇冠D2S氙气灯泡升级改装LED大灯 this link is the exact bulbs I purchased from. Taobao (the original retailer of Alibaba Group)is the mother company of Aliexpress. And that may be Chinese only. I got my pair like USD22 over a year ago. I went key words of "led d2s" on Aliexpress and there are results. Believing these Chinese bulbs have a few iterations per season, I am sure there's newer, brighter options for now. These type of factories are usually newly established, temporary, and short lived. I was randomly picking my bulbs since they are very cheap. I just found it interesting as a drop-in design without touching the ballast on our LS430.

I too am running the VLEDS DRL kit for the LS430, and I'm really happy with it so far. I have Diode Dynamics SL series 6k LEDs in the fogs, and Osram CBB lowbeam D2S bulbs (04-06 fitment)

Are Phillips HID bulbs outdated these days? Or still holding their own compared to Vled and Diode Dynamics?

For OEM color temp, Phillips and Osram HID are safe bet. For whiter color, Diode dynamics HIDs are a great choice. IMO they also have slightly better output and color is more consistent than most others.

I have a set of Philips White Visions that I’ll be putting in soon. Had them on another car and they were pure white from what I remember which is exactly what I want. I wonder if I’d like the Diodes more

Did you just drop these and they work? How about the HID ballast and everything? I was thinking about doing the same thing but was concerned about the HID working differently than a regular fog light bulb

Again, this is a drop-in bulb. The ballast stays where they are. No need to touch anything. I took out the D2S HID bulbs and put these led bulbs in. Done. The new led bulbs use the D2S plug directly. No adjustment on the led bulbs too. They are key with the D2S slot. And they still stay bright today after almost 2yrs. I don't know how they work why HID ballast can drive them and all the technical questions. I also don't understand how the LED bulbs claimed 180w while the ballast is 35w. False claim or whatever they are bright and cheap.
