Default 02 Ls430 trunk storage extension removal

Hello everyone, I was away for a few months, and my car battery died. The door lock actuator on my driver side door is not working so I am not able to manually open the door.
I need to pop the hood open so I can charge the battery but I cannot get in the car. I think there is an option to remove the trunk storage extension from the trunk and be able to reach through the backseat and unlock one of the doors, but I do not know how to remove it or if it is not possible. Has anyone done this?
My other option, but not ideal, is to charge the battery from the alternator. I do not know which is the positive terminal though and would not like to short my alternator.

You don't need to charge it. Just hook up a 12 volt source like a charger to the big wire on the alternator. It has a nut holding it on. You can then unlock the doors with fob.

so I just connect a battery charger to the large wire? Positive only? I had it hooked up with the positive jumper cable to the metal part on the large wire and kept it for about 30-60 mins and nothing happened when I clicked the fob. The battery on the fob is fine because I see the light. How long should it take to charge?

I have not had a '01 to '03 in a while. I may be wrong but can't you use the key? If not, what about a coat hanger or a slim jim? Just my 2 cents, not worth much.

The key should work on the driver door to mechanically open the door. If not, I believe there is a cover you have to remove on the passenger door. Do a search in the forum or on You Tube…

Absolutely connect the negative to the car ground. You wont have to charge the battery but just apply a 12 volt source.

Could the remote fob battery be low? There may be a manual key in the fob, key hole is either on the underside of driver handle or hidden behind a removable cover on the handle. It would pop off by hand.
