Default No way to open rear trunk manually?

My battery died. The jumper cables are under the floor of the trunk. Obviously the trunk control button under dash or on key won't operate. The manual buttons that lift the floor are hidden under the trunk door. Am I out of luck?

Make sure the car is unlocked. Push in and pull up on the rubber trunk release on the rear door below the Lexus logo and above the license plate. I think this will work even with a dead battery.

Your profile indicates your Lexus is a 2006 model. If that is the case and it has the factory battery, it almost certainly needs replacement. I would remove the battery and have it tested under load at an Auto Supply Store.

The only way to open the rear door when the battery is dead is to crawl in through one of the side doors. and open it from the inside. There is a little rectangle carpet patch on the rear hatch right above the lock mechanism. You pop out that carpet patch and there is a little lever inside you can move with your finger. That will release the back door and you can push it open.

Thank you Jakenbake! I didn't know that cover existed. I was able to open the rear door instantly.

Whether it opens manually or automatically is a setting the dealership has to program for you.
