One of the bulbs in the brake lights on the rear has been blown. I tried to replace it but it's wierd how I didn't see a way to take out the brake light panel to replace the bulb. is there a trick ? do i have to take off the nuts/bolts in the back ?
confrused..

Lexs400, for 1990 LS you would have to remove the entire taillight assembly. In other words, you can't just pull back the liner. The nut/bolts you see after you pull back the liner are most likely what holds the taillight assembly in place and they will need to be undone. I will take a look in my shop manual when i get home and try to give you more precise directions.

Lexs400, my understanding is that the procedures for changing the rear light should be the same on your 93 as my 90. At any rate, the directions below are directly from the 90 factory service manual:

Replacement of rear combination light (not on the trunk lid)

1)disconnect negative terminal from battery (not really necessary and i wouldn't do it)
2)remove the side cover and trim rear cover
3)remove 2 bolts
4)disconnect connector and remove the grommet
5)remove rear combination light
6)remove bulbs and sockets

Replacement of rear light assembly (located on the trunk lid)

1)disconnect negative terminal from battery (again, not really necessary and i wouldn't do it)
2)remove the luggage compartment door trim
3)disconnect connector
4)remove 5 nuts and rear light assembly

Hope this helps.

be very careful when you are pulling the taillight assmb, back. There is a tang on the front part on the side that will break off if you put any stress on it.

Where exactly is the tang/tab? I'd like to know so I can make sure to be extra careful when the time comes. Thanks!
