How to change third brake light (bulb)?
One of the bulbs on my CHMSL (center high mounted stop light) is burned out. Does anyone know how to properly remove this unit? I can't tell if it can be accessed from the trunk by removing the liner or if it removes from inside the car.
Thanks.
Thanks.

The Owner's Manual simply states bulb type and wattage. Recommends taking it to the dealer for bulb changing.
I don't own the shop manual yet, I need to order one from Iron Toad ASAP.
Can you elaborate a bit?

Man, it sucks that your manual is that vague. Take your car to the dealer to change a bulb? Gimma a brake!!! If you can take a picture, I'll take a pic tomorrow and post more.

If your rear deck looks like mine then this may help...Pull up on the cover near the arrows, there are just two clips that hold mine in, they pop right out. If your rear deck doesn't look similar to mine just throughly inspect it, these plastic pieces are usually just held in place with clips.

Thanks Earl. My setup is a bit different, the center speaker grille cover is SEPARATE from the CHMSL. I tried tugging on it gently, but to no avail. You are probably right though, I just need to pull a bit harder.
Thanks, I'll check it out tonight, I didn't drive the car today, weather was really nice so I drove the Cobra to work.

I just finished changing out the bulbs---I took earl's advice and firmly lifted up on the ends with my fingers and the entire assembly popped out. There's a quick disconnect fitting that allows the assy. to be easily removed from the car too. I replaced both bulbs with sylvania long lifes, total cost $4.49.
Thanks anyway Lexkost, I would have tried your method if I'd read this before fixing it.
Best Regards,
