1994 LS400 Alternator Bolt sizes
Ok.. I had a power failure, and removed the alternator with the intent to have it rebuilt. The shop tested it, it tested fine. Life happened and didn't reinstall right away. Consequently I have misplaced the nuts and bolts used to mount the alternator. I have been unable to locate the bolt "Lexus 90119-10554" which is the part number, although I've found the corresponding nut online. The shop I had the car towed to claims they can't locate a replacement bolt. So what I need to know is the bolt dimensions. I know the head is 14mm, but what size and thread pitch is escaping my googlefu searches.
If anyone happens to have that information handy, I'd really appreciate it.

This is difficult because Toyota typically uses fasteners with 8mm, 10mm, 12mm and 14mm hex heads. Standard metric fasteners don't come with a 14mm head.
My guess is you're looking for an M8 x 1.25 fastener (measuring the hole the bolt goes through can give you a clue). You should be able to find this at a hardware store. Make sure the bolt length you choose has at least 3-4 threads exposed thru the nut once everything is assembled and tightened. You shouldn't need anything stronger than Class 8.8
If you have the nut you can bring it with you to the hardware store and find the corresponding bolt.

This one might be a bit long to find at a hardware store. Ace Hardware typically offers a better variety than Home Depot and Lowes but the fact that it's metric AND long will lessen the likelihood of it being in stock.
If you don't have a Lexus dealer nearby try a Toyota dealer. There's a good chance this bolt is also used on a Toyota vehicle.

Industrial supply should have the bolt, once you confirm the size and thread. You may not need 50 of them but when you need it..... Check for industrial supply companies in your locale. It's shouldn't be hard to find what you're looking for.

Our local dealership wasn't very helpful, as the part was discontinued and the parts displayed didn't include dimensions. The mechanic I took it to resorted to trying a variety of bolts and nuts till they were finally able to find a combination that worked. Unfortunately I neglected to get the dimensions from them, so even though the problem is resolved, I don't have an answer to my original question. lol But thanks for the advice and suggestions, it was greatly appreciated.
This is the closest I've come to finding anything resembling a Toyota part number-to-size database.

Too bad no one has the time (or effort) to spend cataloging and measuring the fasteners on their next major project to add to the list.
