Alternator belt tensioner
Hi all, I broke the head off of the locking bolt for the tensioner. Can I remove the assembly without removing the alternator? It would make removing the broken bolt a lot easier. The bolt that was in there is pretty soft for it to break that easily. How can I make sure I get a stronger steel bolt for a replacement?
Thanks,
Sean

I think you will have to loosen the bolts/nuts and need not physically remove the alternator.
The bolt is just perfect, and one has to release the lock nut and make sure the alternator can twist (to produce tension). OEM bolt is less than $10, so I would suggest OEM. Other bolts can work, just make sure the bolt would not rust.
