Hi guys. I have to replace the lower control arm bushings in my Celsior. They have quite a bit of play at the moment.
last week the front left coil over went out. Fluid everywhere. Now I feel rattles bad in the steering wheel. Tie rod ends, upper control arms all seem fine. Lowers are moving half an inch.
I would like to just replace the bushings but is it even worth it as they are still expensive. Anyone Know of any half decent , affordable aftermarket options for tese ?
I probably won't go own for this as this isn't my main car anymore.
as for aftermarket all I am aware of is ADUS. are you referring to the strut rod bushing? or the lower control arm bushing that meets the subframe (where the eccentric bolt is to adjust camber)?
I recently replaced my lower control arm bushings (not strut rod bushings). The play in the passenger side was terrible. I could hear it sliding/knocking around every time I went up or down my driveway curb.
Used "Febest" brand bushings from Amazon. They were $18 each.
I had coilovers installed before and after the bushing replacement, but I'll tell you that I noticed a dramatic improvement because the passenger bushing was completely deteriorated. Driver's side bushing wasn't nearly as bad but was worth changing too.
I guess I'll note that at the same time I replaced lower control arm ball joints too. I used Moog units. No complaints.
I used the Febest ones as well on my 97 and they're doing fine 25k and 2 years later. I live in Michigan where there are ****ty roads with potholes everywhere and they still handle the abuse.fine and haven't torn or fatigued.
OK thanks guys. I'll try to find a way to get them here in aus.
they range from cheap to ridiculously expensive so I want to just buy what's good, not what's most expensive or cheapest. Diminishing returns would certainly apply to a rubber bushing.
