Potential new owner quick questions please!
Hi all,
I am looking at a 95 LS400 with 70k miles on it. It's mint!
There are a few issues that I saw so would like your opinions.
1) Temp gauge was planted BELOW the C mark. I am pretty sure this is a bad cluster? Should be fixable by removing cluster and replacing capacitors?
2) Radio, right side speakers VERY low, I moved the balance **** around a lot and then had right side speakers but as soon as I went back to middle they cut out again. Assume this is the radio balance **** needed soldering too?
3) Could hear a slight creaky sound coming from the left rear at low speeds, didn't hear anything on the road over bumps or anything only at very low parking lot speeds. Thinking maybe diff mount or lower control arm bushing?
4) Shifter was very hard to move in and out of gear, perhaps coffee spills? LOL Not sure on this one. Was very stiff, but once in gear shifted fine no vibrations etc.
Thoughts?

Seems like you have awareness of these issues. If those are the main gripes, this one may be pretty good. Plug in a code reader to check that the ECU is capable of communicating through the port for any stored codes. (Depending if early stage of production this one may not be OBDII.)

The price, the interior, the outside body and paint condition is most important, little mechanical issues are not as important, but the price of the unit needs to be adjusted for all the known problems.

Paint and interior and body are MINT. Like nearly showroom. Only some minor scratches on the top part of the rear bumper you get from loading stuff into the trunk. Probably golf clubs lol.
Price we are looking at around $2k USD right now.

Yeah I figured I'd buy it, but the seller is flaking now? He said he would let me know Saturday, then I found it forsale on another site posted Saturday AM.
I guess he didn't like my offer lol. I don't care either way, but thought it may be fun to own and clean up as it needs a good detail but it's nearly perfect otherwise, no dents or scratches or much rust considering the age in Canada most cars are done at this age but it was barely driven and rust coated yearly.

Hold up a moment. What do you mean by rust coated yearly?
The LS 400 comes factory undercoated, so additional layers should not be sprayed on top of it. I hope the owner has not been caking on layers of undercoat/textured coat every year... When done like that, it traps in moisture, rotting the car even faster and making some parts significantly harder to service. If this is the case, you may have dodged a bullet!
On the other hand, if it's something like Fluid film, which is what I use, that's great.

Rust check Yeah like fluid film.
Looks like it sold today sight unseen to someone over the phone. Congrats to the new owner, my interest had waned anyways, I've got too many vehicles as it is lol.
