VSC and ABS warning lights on
I just fixed the valve cover gasket in my car. The VSC and ABS lights are now on.
I drove the car for a little bit after the gasket job to check my work in some POURING rain and accidentally drove through a pretty deep puddle (maybe 6 inches of water).
The next day, the VSC light is on. The ABS light came on too shortly after.
What's weird is that the VSC light did come on when I first re-attached the battery after the gasket job. It stayed on for a bit while the car was just idling. I tightened the battery terminals and it went away.
What's going on?
From what I understand, the VSC system requires a special code reader. I'm guessing I can't just go to, say, Auto Zone, and get a reading? I have to go to the Lexus dealer right? Do Lexus dealers usually charge for this service?

Search
Search the forum; this is a well known problem that occurs when the battery voltage temporarily drops below 11 volts, like when starting up after several days of not being used, or draining the battery while idling for long periods. Seems most common in the 98-00 cars.
