Please let us know if you get your key to work. I have a 98 as well. I was able to program the key to start the car, however i was unable to get the lock/unlock buttons to work. I followed the instructions exactly as described in the previous post. but still no luck. Eventually i just gave up. Please share your experience.

thanks

It is the often case for aged cars with aged door lock/unlock actuators to fail the fobbing due to the reason that PTC Thermistors/Posistors inside of the door lock actuator motors heat up too much and the lock/unlock speed is slower and it exceed the time limit of the fobbing cycle. You need to check the condition of the actuator before the fobbing. It should be OK to repeat lock and unlock many times.

Every time I failed to fob, I had to do something to the actuator which works slower. Just cleaning the motor or replacing the motor made it possible to fob as is written in the manual.
