Default Unknown ***** that seem to do nothing

I can't seem to figure out what these 2 ***** are for. Just bought this car a couple of weeks ago and have been trying to get things working. The car didn't come with an owners manual, and the one on Lexus doesn't show those. The photo behind the ***** hopefully can help determine what they are for. The one connection in my hand isn't plugged into anything. This is the lexus with the nakamichi stereo. I'm also having issues with the right side speakers not working so well. The cd player just says error. The sub works though.

the one with the red ring appears to be a subwoofer volume control, likely the previous person had a sound system, I wouldn't doubt if the other also had something to do with an aftermarket setup.

So what year car? If the one **** is suppose to be there the car is not a Gen1. All the wires etc are someones after market add ons. Just look at all the butt connectors and the capacitor.

The car is a 1994. I'm thinking it may have been in an accident or something as well. The key doesn't open the trunk. I have to pop the trunk from the lever in the car.
I'm also having a heck of a time with the funky 1 button key. Someone super glued it shut. I got it open to replace battery. Now it's looking like I need to replace the housing as well. Aye.

What am I looking at here, which part of the car? Is this the underside of the dash on the drivers side? If so the OEM looking **** adjusts the volume of the beep that sounds when you lock/unlock the car

I believe this is the amp. This is in the trunk, behind the trim by the gas fill side. In reply to your question those ***** are on the drivers side in front of your knees.

Then yes, the one OEM **** (the larger one) controls the volume for the door lock beep.

That button kind of looks like a muffin. Have you tried pressing it yet?
This video at around 3:05 shows something to consider:

Good luck figuring it out, and I hope your car is not like that one.
