Default Audio problem: only subwoofer plays music

I have had my car for about 2 weeks and heres my first problem... I have a 95 SC300, and I havent messed with the stereo system at all other than buying a CD magazine cause it didnt come with one...

This just started today, at first it would play a song or 2 then for no reason just start playing out of only the sub. All of the other speakers dont play anything, but the sub plays the bass like usual, and you can barely hear music coming out of it also. I dont know much about stereos so can anyone give me any ideas???

I searched and didnt come up with anything, and I dont know what could be causing this. Im a motor guy- I suck at electrical stuff so if anyone has an idea of what I should check out let me know. If not I will just take it to a stereo shop or, god forbid- a lexus dealership. Thanks

Your amplifier is probably dead. I am not sure what to do in that situation, maybe someone else can comment.

yeah none of it works, someone told me that some of the older SCs would leak water and maybe the amp got wet. And thats probably it cause its been raining here for 2 days straight. Wheres the factory amp on the SC300s?

I took out the CD changer and the amp and there was a bunch of water down there in the bottom of the trunk, like 4" cause it couldnt drain out. I drained it and left a hole so it wont happen again. The amp wasnt really wet but it might have been and just dried out, but the wires were underwater, not the connectors just the wires but I couldnt find any cuts in the insulation...

I dried it all out and turned on the radio with the amp plugged in-- same thing only sound coming from the sub. I unplugged the amp and it didnt change a thing though. So- is the sub powered by an amp up in the head unit and the other speakers by this amp in the trunk or what? I guess Ill buy another amp and give it a shot...

time for a new amp, but if you replace that amp it can happen again so I recommend getting a new head unit and doing an amp bypass.
