Default 1997 Lexus door ajar issue

Hey guys chawnse here new to the forums and the car world.
Bought my 1997 Lexus ls400 for 1300 with 2 issues it had a power steering leak( fixed with a can from autozone ) and it also says a door is open when none are.. Now I'm prepared to remove the door panels of each door.. But what am I looking for when I get in there? Or can I use an obd2 reader and find a code?

Welcome to Club Lexus.

My suggestion would be to fix the PS leak. The sealers don't play well long term and may cause additional issues. There are a few discussions what happens when using those leak sealer fluids. Ruined rack, pump...etc.

The switch on the B pillar is likely what the problem is for the door open light. I'm not sure but there could be 2 one for the interior light and the other for the alarm and door open? Its not inside the doors so you shouldn't need to remove the door panels.

There is no switch on the B pillar I believe that was for the first generation. The switch is with the locking mechanism in the door from what I have read on other posts. I am not sure how to test if the switch is good or not once I get inside the door.

Thanks RA for the quick response, i'll replace that when I do the water pump, just need to fix this door ajar issue so I don't have to jump my car every morning..

If it has anything to do with it my outside temp is incorrect, and I have a 100% dead radio headunit
Already tried to reset the unit with car on acc and pressing 2 4 6 i think it was but to no avail.

Yeah that is why we really need separate forums for the different Gen's.

I'm not familiar with the LS400's door sensors to advise.
