2000 LS400 Nakamichi HELP!
Hi,
I need your help please.
Here's the story so far.
6 months ago I wanted an aftermarket deck rather than my Nakamichi (I know I am an idiot).
I had an audio guy wire things up but the amp wouldn't turn on.
I fixed his mistake and the amp did turn on (sub too), but the sound was NO WHERE NEAR the Nak.
So now I want the Nak Back.
The Nakamichi deck needs a quick repair as the right channel cuts out every now and then, and I want an aux installed so I am sending it to factory stereo asap.
In the meantime I went to redo the wiring (again) to go back to the nak.
Seems like the audio guy cut off my harnesses white plug and left the blue and grey one on.
He also cut the wires too short (too close to reach the harness again).
I spliced wires between the short wires and ran them to the harness and soldered it all.
I plugged it all in and nothing. The Nakamichi deck won't turn on.
Some of the wires are too frail to fix so I think I need to fix the wires altogether.
But I am not qualified (or have the tools) to do so.
I spent 5 hours today trying but on all attempts the Nak won't turn on.
So I left it unplugged and out of the car (to mail to factory stereo).
I want them to make sure the deck works before I fix the wiring (maybe it's the deck).
In the meantime the car's remote key won't work (it works in the door and ignition) but not remotely.
Also the lights above my head (by the moonroof controls) won't work either.
So here's my questions:
1. Is it normal for the lights and remote key NOT to work when there is NO deck in the car?
2. Where should I take the car to fix the wiring harness (they have to run some new wires in the center console but nowhere else. Keep in mind I live just north of Toronto Ontario Canada.
3. Do you have any advice in general?
I can take pics but it's a mess. The audio guy spliced into some wires and cut off others altogether (oy vey).
Thanks in advance!

I meant http://factoryradioservice.com/index.php for fixing the deck.
I also meant to say that I have all the plugs, it's just that the wires won't reach, and are too frail to splice new ones.
Cheers

I think doing any kind of add on or aftermarket anything lowers the value of the car. Well except for simple bolt on things that require no modifications to anything. As far as cut connectors and stuff, a real audio outfit would use special adapter type connectors I would think.
If it was me the solution would be to have the place that ruined stuff simply pay a lexus dealer to replace the ruined stuff. They would learn not to goof up the next persons car wouldn't they?

I wish I could but they aren't a big or reputable place. They were the only ones I could find who said they could get the amp and sub to turn on...they were almost right. They had connected the wrong wire to the autodimmer on the new deck and when I cut that connection the amp and sub turned on. Tada.
But the sound is NOTHING like the nakamichi.
Sigh

What aftermarket deck did you put in? My guess is just a bad install, reverse polarity on the RCA will cause 180 phase shift. This alone will kill most bass and make the sound sound out of place.
Where are you located?
