Hi everyone, I'm new to the Lexus world just bought a 00 LS400 for my wife to use as her dd. I have a 09 G8 GT with a few mods that she drove for a couple of weeks until I bought the LS, and she liked the sound. She was wanting to do some performance mods to the ls but I don't really see any headers or cat back systems available for this car.

I hear you. If it was up to me I would just stick with appearance mods wheels/ coil overs. She wants a little sound not loud but tasteful. I was thinking about getting some corsa mufflers and getting them put on.

i went the cheapest route available i think and just replaced the rear most set of mufflers with straight pipes and that makes a nice subtle rumble, slight drone from like 55-65, and i've also noticed that they get a bit louder once the car has been running for a bit and the exhaust gets to heat up a bit. another great thing i can recommend if a spare part can be located is the "JBrady intake" which really just makes the engine sound super angry and awesome at the higher revs

quick video i made

An LS400 is a car that does not need mods. Its a 4 door sedan not a sporty coupe, Lexus did all the mods anyone needs at the factory. Mods do absolutely nothing to increase the value of the car, but they do lots to decrease the value. One mod that everyone would love is one that increases the gas mileage to 100 miles per gallon, anything else is a total waste of time, money and car.

Oh another mod would be good floor mats, seat covers to protect the leather, some kind of removeable wrap to protect the paint and body.
If you change the wheels keep the oem's for the next person to buy it.

I have a 99 Ls400 parts car.it has 94,000 miles on the motor and transmission. So as far as stock parts go I have another one. The car will be lowered and it will have a set of 19's on it.

dicer i agree with you 99.9%... however the intake mod is so great because it is completely 100% reversible and i found a spare part on ebay for like $95 which was very worth it to me. the exhaust is honestly probably best left stock, but i do think putting some 17 or 18 inch wheels can do wonders to really freshen up the car without compromising ride quality

I'm a new LS400 owner too and I just did the rear muffler delete and intake mod as described and it makes a great difference. The car sounds like a stock mustang GT. I would recommend these two modifications and it should satisfy the sound your wife is looking for.

Ok thanks, I've been looking on YouTube at exhaust for these cars. I did find one that had a manual transmission swap from a supra I think it also had a supercharger on it too.
