I also bought my LS last week. I am not spending any money on the motor, aside from doing maintenance (just bought 900$ worth of parts). Before motor modding, figure out all the maintenance stuff first.

Personally, I don't see a reason to make my LS fast, and waste money on it. At 3650 it will always be a slow cruiser, I have other fast cars when I need to go fast.

That said, I ordered coilovers, new brake pads, and just purchased some 19inch wheels. For me the suspension/wheel on the car is very lacking and is needed.

Good luck, and congrats

please search. it is possible but will NOT be cheap.
-high stall TC
-custom rear end gearing
-full exhaust and headers
-piggyback+dyno tune
-lots of prayer
and you would still be cutting it close....oh, and nobody makes a plug and play piggyback or rear end anything.

As said LS400's are slow. I wish I didnt buy mine sometimes lol.

Look into sticking a M90 blower on it. Or even better a turbo/s. (Never seen anything for the late model 1UZ Forced induction wise tho, will no doubt have to be custom)

Changing Diff ratios and stall rates just sacrifices drivability not something you want in a luxury car.

Were is Lexkost, He has a 1999 LS400 in the low 14sec 1/4 mile bracket im sure. Hit him up for advice.

LS400s' are slow? ummm i beg to differ. Or unless you're comparing the first gen and the second gen. I thought my 91 was slow but then I got my 98 and i must say it's pretty fast. (on the freeway that is) lol. Still fun to drive though.

Right on! I think a M90 supercharger is a good choice. ScottRUnot, the moderator on this forum has fit the M90 blower on his 97 VVTI engine and it's fast. I believe it's the same engine as the 99 LS. He's selling the complete engine and the supercharger setup, or separately.

Turbo system cost a little bit more, but its power limit is very high. Not to mention a high 5 seconds for 0-60, you can cut it down in the mid 4 with just 8-9 psi of boost. Or you may just install the high stall speed torque converter and it'll make your car a lot more lively for sure, either launching at a stop or on a roll. Lextreme (David) at www.lextreme.com can custom build 1 for you.
