Default Engine harness

Tried searching but could not really find anything. Is the harness just plug and play?

Plug and Play? I guess they are but according to the diagrams I am looking at, there are six separate wiring harnesses in the engine compartment of a 1996 LS400. Do you have a particular problem?

The harness that runs along the driver side wheel well. I was rubbing and broke through the clips that held it up and rubbed through the some of the insulation of the wires. ( i know i should have tucked it, but couldn't figure out how to)

There are a couplpe of 96's around me that are being parted out and was just seeing if i could buy the harness from them and put it on my car.

ah, that's the primary harness from the fusebox into the car. No, it isn't a simple "plug and play" at all since it goes fairly deep into the dash.

Best bet is to just have it repaired by a competent auto electrician if you aren't comfortable with a fair bit of soldering and wire repair.

yeah i thought so. pulled the rubber grommet off and the wires looked like it went in DEEP.
Guess i'll just have to go with the soldering route.

Thanks for the response

i believe you can just relocated it inside the engine bay rather than extend.

doesn't seem like there is enough play in the harness to do that. Also can i unplug the harness where it goes into the fuse box??

yes but you will need to extend some wires. also, it's a tight fit through the existing holes to get the cable and connectors back into the engine bay.

Do you have any recommendations on what would be the easiest way to tuck the wires higher? I raised my car up already, but it still rubs on the wire loom on right turns and big dips.

If it is similar to the first gen you can tuck it behind a piece of the body in the fender. There is a thread about it if you search. Search "harness relocation".
