Default Climate control cheapo LCD replacement?

I previously used one of the $160 LCD modules from lextreme. While surfing ebay looking at random LS400 parts, I saw a number of LCD replacement modules popping up for $45. Are they garbage compared to the ones lextreme sells?

I put one of the $45 ebay things in my '91 a couple of years ago. Still perfect. You just have to solder it in. I don't know anything about the Lextreme option.

You could just buy a replacement unit for less than that 160 lcd. Ebay has a lot of them. I have an extra one i keep but two buttons don't stay on most times. Meaning the light don't stay on.

I don't remember all the details now; it has been a few years since I replaced the LCD unit with an exchange.
I can solder, but the price difference made it very attractive to just swap out the display itself.
If I remember correctly, it was about $75, fit perfectly, and has worked flawlessly for at least two years now.
