Climate Control LCD replacement question
I know that replacing a burned out LCD for the A/C climate control head has been discussed on here plenty, and that the more adventurous do-it-yourselfers have soldered in a new LCD from ebay, this was even featured on an episode of the British show Wheeler/Dealers
my problem is, all of the replacement LCD's I can find on ebay or elsewhere online only fit up through like 94
where can I find the correct replacement LCD, suitable for soldering in, that will fit my '96 LS?

anybody find a replacement LCD yet? I don't want to buy a used one if its just gonna go bad again! I wonder if UV rays damage it at all. My 95's was perfect for 15 years, then it moved from Maine to GA, and within a year my LCD started to go bad. Same with the stereo.

95+ LS LCD is not available.
Best bet is to find a used one in a junkyard that has a good screen.

I ended up buying a new one on ebay for $45 and soldering it in myself. Works great.
So I am a believer in the UV accelerating the failure. I thought so before you mentioned your case as well. And I would think the same thing you are regarding a used one - it would fail quickly due to age + UV.
No problems with my stereo though.

the junkyard is great when your little nephew breaks something in an LS400 that normally never breaks, but not in a case like this, where they all break due to a design defect!

Junkyard doesn't work for known problem areas in cars due to the phenomenon called pattern failure - in other words, all of the junkyard LCD's will have the same issue mine has!

Also, and importantly, those new replacement LCD screens that you have to solder in for 90-94 are made differently from the original parts, addressing the design defect. They won't fail due to age + UV like the originals did.
