ignition switch or unless someone wired something into the ignition system like a fan with a toggle switch.

I agree. What about the rest of the subsystems tied in with the ignition? like.. the radio, the wipers, ect... do they still work with the key out? If they do, its probably a bad ignition switch failing to cut off the power.

I have seen diesel engines do that, where the shut down solenoid in the injector pump goes bad, and i also have seen carburated gas engines continue running roughly due to carbon buildup in the cylinders, but for an engine with EFI to keep going afterwards would lead me to beleive that its simply a bad switch, as the ECU would still have to be getting the "on" signal to keep the system operating

Maybe the contacts on the key cylinder are corroded.

i really appreciate all the input guys.i figured out the problem tho,i don't know why i didn't think of it soon.it ended up being the driver side harness under the fender. 3 of the wires got chewed up and one of them was a all white ignition wire that was touching another smaller wire.fixed them and now everything is back to normal!

thanks again for all the advice!

I had a similar problem not too long ago. The car would turn off but my dash lights would stay on. Found some wires in the driver fender harness were rubbed by my tire and were bare. Repaired them and all is good.

I was hoping that it would also fix my previous problem of not having power to my door locks, interior lights, head lights, and trunk popper while the car either wasn't running or switched to ACC. Everything works while car is on. But it didn't solve any of that. I think I've got a bad MPX body network computer.
