how do I take out 2 front power seats- 2000 Lexus LS400?

 

Remove the four bolt holding each seat in place, disconnect the electrical connectors and lift the seats out?

 

remove scuff plate before taking the seats out.

 

make sure to take the battery out a fair bit of time before (then may as well try to cycle the ignition to clear it out) since there's an airbag in the seat. be especially careful with any yellow airbag harnesses

 

no need to cycle the key if battery is unhooked for 5 mins or more...positive and negative.

+100 on the airbag wire

 

i'm paranoid when dealing with airbags. it's not the price of a replacement bag or the danger.

it's the smell that never goes away.

 

im paranoid about them too. my face became bestfriends with one (auto accident) and I had the meshing imprinted on half of my face for about 2 days because my head was turned, hit the steering wheel.....then the airbag went off. I was told I was lucky to be alive, because if my face would have been towards the windshield instead of looking out the door, the st wheel would have shattered the bridge of my nose, instead of just cracking it.


and at work, I always kinda pull away when I reconnect the battery after any airbag or dash removal . and I have never been responsible for an airbag popping due to repair....knock on wood

 

Yeah they are bad, and you are lucky to be alive. I don't like, or trust, any air bag. Years ago, a friend of mine was driving, following a dump truck. A small rock came out the truck, hit his bumper, airbag went off, (for no reason) pushed his nose bone up right into his brain. I don't have to tell ya what happened next. RIP They're much more perfected now but always be VERY careful around any airbag.
