Default Oxygen Sensor problems

Check engine light on 1997 LS 400 (with only 48000 miles) comes on-- OBDII reader gives a P0135 -- Oxygen sensor replaced with genuine Toyota part --- Check engine light comes on again after about 6 milles -- same code !!!
What is the next step? Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks

you did replace the proper sensor right...?

it's one of the FRONT sensors, the ones BEFORE the cats.

like PD said, make sure you're on the right bank. there are 4 02 sensors total on the car.

p0135 is a bank 1 sensor 1 o2 heater failure.
Bank1 is the driver side bank...

Thanks Guys,
I was afraid that it was something as stupid as that. I'll get to the other side soon.

I had the same issue a few months ago and it was the drivers side. Replaced just the one and haven't had any problems since. Although it is fine to drive on it currently so I wouldn't worry too much although I like my Lexus to be in top notch working order

I could not get a new sensor, so the passenger side sensor which was removed (and which was presumably good) was switched to the driver's side, and have not seen the check engine light since--Fingers still crossed!
