Has anyone ever heard of a conversion kit from lexus (or anyone) that converts the high beams on my ls400 to daytime running light/high beams? (I refer to daytime running light as lights that come on when the car is started and never go off until the car is shut off) I have a 98 LS400. Thanks in advance for any input you may have.

I got a universal kit from ebay, but its VERY extensive to install, and Im not going to cut my factory harness to install it. Wish we had other options.

The only ways to get one is to
Buy a Canadian vehicle.
See if it just needs a fuse and relay from the Canadian vehicles(check your manuals for locations)
Add a small bulb into the high beam which requires drilling a hole ,or splicing the wiring harness to get a low feed cuircit for power .

No need to add a bulb. DRL's use the same high beam bulb. If you actually add a bulb, you'll have an aiming issue.

LOL
I know they use the same high beam but if you add an led projected into the reflector properly it will illumintate it enough to mimic a DRL as they are low intensity.

LED's have directional issues, and are not powerful enough to light up the reflector due to design, capability, and room in the lens. The high beams are shielded like the low beams, no room to work in.

Good luck getting an LED to be seen in the daytime, but lets just say it WOULD work, If your going to drill the light housing and wire LEDs so they function when the lights arent, and only when the ignition on, might as well just install a DRL kit.

Thanks for all the replies guys. What about voltage reduction of the high beams if one were to add a relay? Wouldn't 12 volts to the high beams give them enough power to be too bright during the day? What voltage source would you guys recommend to activate the relay when the car is started to remain on? Would the driving lights have to have the capabilities to be switched off when the head lights are on? How about when the high beams are turned on?

Their are many led's that are large enough to make the housing glow but not make any considerable output.
Alot of kids have teh kits on there cars hooked up to alarms to flash usually in corner lamps.
