Default Cheap HID wannabe Bulbs

Hey do you guys know what causes the cheap HID wanna be bulbs to melt the ends? I just replaced my 9006 connectors cuz it melted it so bad it only worked 1/2 the time. Is it the cheap bulbs intself or is there something else that causes it. I am getting HID anyways later on, but for now I still have those hyperwhites.

It's because of the fact they run at a much higher wattage than standard bulbs, to compensate for the light absorbed by the blue coating (oftentimes 85W for low beams, instead of the normal 55W).

Not completely sure, but I think it has something to do with the wattage of the bulb being higher than the intended amount the connector can handle, thus causing it to melt.

What do you mean it can get worse fast? I have run these for 2 years now, melted the passenger side... should I just go buy a HID kit now and solve my problems? Or should I say who cares, if another connector melts then I have to spend 5 more bucks (Canadian)

well from what i see, once it starts melting, it gets worse faster and faster. not fully understand how though. if you don't really feel the trouble of changing the connector often i don't see why not, it's just 5 bucks. but of course, if you wanna do real hid that'd be great. that's what i did, didn't bother with hid wannabe and jumped to 6000k right on
