I have already decided I will be putting new OEM headlights on my SC3 to restore things to new.
As is the cutoff is pretty good on the halogen projectors. I am debating to do one of 3 things:
1. Just put in 9006 silverstar bulbs with the new lights
2. Buy a 9006 HID kit to use with the new lights
3. Do a true retrofit with the Acura TSX projectors
I am leaning towards option 2 but I have yet to find a nice quality kit with 4300K color where replacement parts are easy to get.
However, it was a lot of work to perform surgery on the lights and it was kind of required on that car cause the stock projectors were not as sharp as in the SC.
What would you do?
Keep in mind doing scary surgery on $500 worth of new lights is also a factor. The cutoff and beam on my GT is razor sharp but if I can get a result about 80% as good with option 2 I will go for it.
If they're brand new SC lights, they will have a decent projector in them already compared to older SC's (even an older SC projector isn't too terribly horrible with a hid kit). Get those new lights and a 4300 hid kit and rock on.
since you have a new headlight already...no point of retrofitting them because you will waste your $$$ get a set of beat up headlights if you do want to retrofit
They cost about the same as the made-in-china HID kits that I've been using. I've honestly not had any problems with output or quality with these kits... worth a shot if you're considering doing a full retrofit in the future.
I recommend option 2. Get a nice set of HIDs and the brand new headlights and you're gonna be happy. I have the V-HID kit in my car, very nice kit IMO.
Why do you want 4300k anyway? At least go 5k. The 4300's would be ok behind a projector but open reflector is going to look lame. Don't get me wrong the light output on the road would be great, just not as white as say 5 or 6k.
