Default mobilehid vs xenondepot

I bought mobilehid's for my rx300. They look good but not perfect. When I look at them on the garage doors they are a off on the edges. How are xenondepot's vs these? Can I just switch to xenondepot's bulbs in the mobilehid's housing or would I have to buy the whole kit if I wanted to switch and what would be the benefits/negatives of doing this.

Yup. The only way you will get a nice cutoff is if you have HID housings or do a retrofit. Remember that the halogen housing was made for halogen bulbs so they will not reflect the light from an HID bulb properly.

The responses you got were correct. The beam pattern is described mostly by our RX300's reflector housing, and since you and I have OEM Halogen capsule housings we get an awkward cutoff. It's not too bad for me I've never had any problems and I've seen my lights from other cars and it's not bad.

The only way to change the cutoff is to do a retrofit with HID projectors, or doing the OEM RX HID swap.

So if I want to keep the black headlight housing on the 99 rx300 (because I don't like the chrome headlight look) I would just need to change to the hid reflector housing?

Where would I get just the housing?
Is it easy to replace?
Then would there be a difference between the two hid's, mobilehid vs xenondepot?

dimsumboy- here are the steps.

1) remove halogen bulbs
2) insert HID bulbs
3) install wire harness to all the necessary connections: + and - terminals on the battery, left and right ballasts, and OEM headlight plug. Here is a pic of the wire harness that is included in the mobilehid kit.

4) turn on lights and smile.

Here are some youtube videos of an RX300 owner with the mobilehid kit installed.

Enjoy.
