Question Replacing the revurse lights

I ordered some blue reverse bulbs for my lexus last week off e-bay for like $5. I just got them in today and i cant seem to figure out how to install them. Call me dumb, but i just cant seem to figure it out. i went into the trunk and took off the carpet that was behind the tail lights thinking i would see the light fixtures. BUT all there was, was like a metal wall with a few wires sticking out. how in the world do i get to the bulbs. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Take off the black grommets and use a 10mm wrench to take off the back light assebly.

I put 50w reverse lights in mine and sure do work. It's been two years and still going.

I took off the groomets, and there is like a metal wall with about 8 skrews in it. 4 of them look to be just holding it in (2 on each side), 1 in the center near the trunk latch, and 3 on the left side surrounding what looks to be a light buld (pretty positive it isnt though). Do I take them all out? I took out 4 and nothing is budging. I looked at the metal fixture and it looks to me that everything is welded together. Even if i removed all the skrews it seems that it still wouldent move. Any input on this???

i know this is a technicality, but how exactly can u see your reverse lights unless you got a mirror/reflection behind you?
either that or u get someone else to drive and u look...

there is a button above the shifter that says "shift lock over ride". Just put the key into the ignition and turn it so that you can roll the windows down, turn the radio on, etc... But dont turn the car on. Press the "shift lock over ride button" (with your parking break on) and put it in reverse. And walk out and check out your lights. Quite simple really.

Default $5 ? on EBay? where?

Well, I never thought of adding blue tint reverse bulbs, but you guys got me interested in checking out eBay.

Alas, a search on either active or completed items for "lexus reverse" yielded nothing but a bunch of $8.75 auctions, with an additional $5 shipping charge.

So, ChrisSC300, how did you score them for $5?

shroffkr - The light fixture IS removable, but it has long bolts and their threads tend to catch onto the mounting holes, so removing it is usually not very smooth. Plus, the attached wiring harness provides some resistance. I had to slightly bend and twist the light fixture to ease it out.

does anyone have pictures of these reverse lights?
I really wonder how this would look. I've yet to see one installed on our SC.

For people with manual can't you just turn the key to the on position and throw it in reverse and the lights will turn on? Most manual cars I've driven have that feature of turning on the reverse lights when the key is in the on and is shifted into reverse.

That's exactly what I need. Could someone tell me the type # of the reverse bulbs? They're way too dim and I know someone who might be able to get some nice halogen bulbs.

Thanks.
