High beams as regular headlights.. question!? :)
When I replaced my stock headlight bulbs (non-HID) I wanted something extra bright and I saw on the forum that several people bought the Sylvania Silverstar high beams (5 or 10 watts more than the standard healight bulbs) and shaved off part of the bulb housing to fit as the standard headlight bulbs and foglights.
I took the liberty to do this myself but am now worried about the wattage. Can this result in my wires/wiring harness frying? I love the way the lights look I even keep them on during the daytime, however I don't want to ruin anything that might cost a lot to repair..
...any thoughts?

no. silverstars wont draw enough wattage to fry the harness
the mod your talking about (the 9006-9005 mod) isnt about wattage. people do the swap since the 9006 bulb has a black "cap" which blocks part of the light, the 9005 does not, making it brighter with the same amount of wattage.

Thanks guys... but I remember reading the package and I believe there is a 10 watt diference.. however if you don't believe its enough to mess anything up then I'm stoked!
I love when people flash their highbeams at me because I'm makin em squint.. makes me feel like such a *****!

the difference between the typical 9006 and 9005 bulbs has a difference of only 0.8 Amps. You're not going to fry anything. In fact, I wouldn't doubt it if Toyota used the same wiring gauge for both the bulbs!
