how are the LED's for those. because i looked at the housing and it seems like if i put in a LED the light won't be as bright because it will only shine towards the tip of the bulb which is basically shining towards the ceiling. but having a filement bulb in there would work better because the light comes from all sides of the bulb.
sure did....but I really like the color it emits....matches well with my 3022, 74, and 194 LED bulbs.
I knew I was gonna lose some brightness with these...thinking about adding some kind of mirror-like piece at an angle that would reflect the light downward...probably find it at a craft store.....the only plus side is that I rarely use this map light at all.

Pete
exactly as i expected. i guess i'll just keep that bulb stock.
Sorry to resurrect this, but I just got a chance to drop in my 74 LEDs in the footwells. They are a BIG improvement over stock. Compared to my Polargs, they are definitely a little blue tinged. So now I'm debating just leaving the Polargs or replacing everything with LEDs. No digicam yet, but it's the same thing Pete has. Did you get these, Henry? How do you think they blend with the Polargs?
lol. I think they're a must get. After changing out my other bulbs, it made the yellow in the footwell that much more hideous. But, like I said, I'm now having to think about redoing all of them, but I'm leaning toward just leaving the Polargs. I don't really want to fight 'em again.
Oh Pete...did you change the glovebox light? I found mine but I couldn't see an obvious way to get inside it. The lens looked like it was sealed to the light housing, and it was probably about 125 degrees in my car, so I didn't feel like messing with it either...lol.
Ordered mine and definitely a greater improvement. I'll try and take pics tonite. Hey romin come on get with it and order them Im also having a projector retrofit on a extra set of lights I bought from ebay and will use them in my nrl's(nighttime running lamps) to match.

Brian...how did you change the glovebox light? It looked like a sealed enclosure to me. What what is the key ignition light? Thanks!
They're the exact same ones, but they wrote the wrong description and forgot to mention the 100 degree wide angle output. I know this for a fact because I have them in my footwells...lights up the whole area instead of just one spot...check the specs: http://autolumination.com/specifications.html
superbrightleds is cheaper, but they only accept money orders if they're a minimum of $25 (for those who don't have paypal or a credit card).
The glovebox light....I just used a screwdriver to pop out the clear plastic cover and replaced the bulb with an LED....simple as that. Keep in mind that I have a '91 LS400...so yours might be a different procedure? Maybe someone with a 2nd gen GS can chime in?
