Default Sylvania Life Expectancy?!?!?

On the Sylvania website under frequently asked questions........they say that the life expectancy for the Silverstar bulb is "up to one year". I was thinking about purchasing the bulbs but I dont want to have to change them in one year. I'm sure that plenty of you guys have them so can anyone give me some insight on this problem that I'm having.

--Thanks

Have them in my fogs. Replaced one last week -- it was a little over a year

Mine are 21 months old, still working, knock on wood. And I do a fair amount of night driving, and turn them on during the day in overcast weather. May try PIAA next, I'll see.

I have Silverstars in one of my other cars. It has daytime running, so they are on all the time. It's been almost two years without issue. I have both low and high beams installed.

Cool

Clean the bulbs with rubbing alcohol before you put it in to clean any deposits you put on it taking it out and you're OK. Between that and staying close on the wattage & they'll last indefinately.

Old thread, but still relevant. I just had my second Silverstar bulb fail in 15 months and I am not purchasing anymore of these bulbs. I need more longevity, but the brightness was good.

I'm not willing to go with the HID upgrade, but can anybody offer suggestions for bulbs that are bright and white other than Silverstars? I have my headlights on whenever I drive.

Project300, look into PIAA Xtreme White bulbs. I've had mine in my ES for 18 months (used everyday during my work commute), and no problems with them. PIAA bulbs can be found at various websites like Optauto and Cardomain.
