Default T10 bulbs?

I was replacing all my headlamp bulbs today and I noticed there are two sets of bulbs in the DRL area for my 04 LS430. We replaced the xenons, and then we went to replace the 9005 bulbs, but there are two MORE bulbs directly above the 9005's. Are these T10 bulbs? We couldn't get them to come on no matter what we tried. What are they for? Here is a pic

It's called Clearance Lamp. It should come on when you turn on the low beam (9005 is off). Of course when the low beam is off, the 9005 is on at half power to provide DRL functionality.

I installed a set of PIAA bulbs I purchased on Amazon.com

ok. I don't think they are working. Nothing there came on when we turned on the low beams. What is the part #?

Just from the appearance, it looks burned out.

Ok I think I found it on Sewell Lexus. Is this right? I want to get it on Amazon though. Does someone know the generic name for it?

These are 168 wedge or T-10 (10mm) base bulbs.

Take a look at Post #2. Those PIAA bulbs look pretty good.

ok thanks. Do they need to be yellow like that? They looked clear for the OEM ones.
What are these bulbs supposed to be doing in terms of functionality if the low beams are already turned on?

They mainly illuminate the housing. Decorative.

OEM is #2825 5-watt clear. Sylvania makes 'em. Clear or yellow is personal choice.

I like the PIAA yellow, which mimics the DRL (9005 half power) color nicely.

Here's a mini-DIY on how to get to these bulbs...

Here's a quick comparison between the PIAA and DRL... But like Tom57 said, Clear or yellow is personal choice.

rkw's DIY's with custom pictures are really quite good. And, he has PDFs of pages for specific DIY fixes straight from the Lexus shop manual. rkw is a valuable resource to CL.
