I am looking to get a DEI alarm with the smartstart technology (uses your phone to start the car and more)
I was told that they will need a key to install the system so that it can read the code and start the car. Now I have two questions with this.
1. Can I get one of the "Card" keys and use that so I don't have to buy a regular keyfob
2. Will the locks still work since technically the car should not lock if it knows a key is still in the car (to prevent you from locking yourself out)
Just curious how others got around this. I need to get the alarm installed quick and I live in Texas so remote start is super nice!
Cheers!

sorry Big Mack the DBALL wont work on the 08 IS350.. 09+only.. PKALL or idatalinks ads-al-ca will work..
LaVaism also look into the smart start bluetooth adapter (as long as ur in range) it gives u immediate response to the security system (normal smart start has about a 10 sec delay or longer depending on sat coverage)

@Shibumi will the PKALL or idatalinks allow me to not lose my key? What I am afraid of is I will have to lose my key and then the "touch" unlock won't work anymore as well as the whole can't lock your keys in the car because it senses a key in the car.
I don't have an alarm, but do have remote start. I can tell you that they were able to flash the module in order to trick it into thinking the fob was in the car for starting. However, it is possible to lock the doors using the remote start door lock function, even with the Lexus fob in the car. Good thing they are on the same key ring....
u wont need an extra key (either part pkall or idata bypass oem transponder...) but touch unlock will only unlock doors not disarm the alarm (if im remembering correctly) also oem fob wont work while engine is running... so the viper remote will be needed(or phone w smart start app)to disarm/unlock while running.. they are soon going to offer their own proximity set up to arm/disarm alarm when u get close or leave car.. it'll work on older cars w/o touch unlock too....

Nice! I am loving the PKE addon, I just wish this whole system wasn't going to cost me $1,000, but I guess that is cheaper than replacing the entire car. Hopefully I'll have my alarm in a week or so.
